I recently noticed that my silver ring has become very tarnished from the bleach i use in my dishwater (the ring doesn’t come off because of swollen fingers) and i was wondering if anyone has any "home remedies" for getting it clean? Thanks!
You may wish to try Sodium bicarbonate. It works well.
Try also to remove your ring in using a few drops of oil or a soapy solution which should allow the ring to slip out easily.
Cleaning a silver ring?
I just bought a sterling silver ring from a reptuable place and the ring is turning my finger green?
I just bought a sterling silver ring from a reputable place and my finger is slightly turning green. I don’t think I can return it.
The inside says: .925
What’s the deal with my ring?
The ring certainly sounds fake. When you say that the inside says .925 is that engraved on the ring or something else? If the place is truly reputable you should be able to return the ring. Hope all goes well!

How much would it be to resize a sterling silver ring?
I have a silver ring and it’s not plated. It’s a size 12 and I need it in a size 8. Would anyone know how much that would cost?
$20-ish. when you size up, you’re adding metal, so it’s usually a tad pricier than when you size down. you’ll most likely just pay for labor. phone ahead. most jewelers will be happy to answer your question.

Is it possible to make a sterling silver and diamond ring smaller?
My boyfriend gave me a sterling silver and diamond ring for Christmas but it is much too large. Is it possible to have a sterling silver ring made smaller? What would be the average cost to do so?
Any ring can be re sized as long as there’s enough metal that the ring won’t be warped or compromised. Different jewelers have different prices but it shouldn’t be all that expensive but If you live around a jewelry district, it should be anywhere around $ 10.00 to $ 20.00 to have it done. Check the internet for jewelers in your area they might have prices on there sites, but it should cost around $20.00 to $60.00.

How do I clean my silver ring?
I have a silver ring and it got really "yellowish". How do I clean it(at home)? Does anyone know any good ways?
I have read all of the answers you have so far.
I wear LOTS of Silver everyday.
This is what I do depending on how I feel at the time:
Tarn-X can be bought at Wal-Mart by the cleaning supplies. Just dip your silver, rinse it off and dry with a soft cloth. Works great if you have alot to do. Not real good for some stones though.
Silver polishing cloth bought in the jewlery department at Wal-Mart. Just rub it leaves a black mark on the cloth but the jewlery is shiny just don’t forget to turn the cloth over and use the other side cause there is a treatment in the other side that will keep it shiny for awhile.
Toothpaste on a cloth works good especially if you only have one ring

How durable is a sterling silver ring coated in thick white gold?
Looking to buy an Irish Claddagh ring for my girlfriend for valentines day. I have the choice between a sterling silver ring coated in thick white gold or one that is simply sterling silver. I know nothing about jewelry Can anyone tell me which one would be better?
the white gold plating will add a ‘colder’ color to the silver and will prevent tarnish for as long as it’s there. ‘Thick’ plating means nothing unless it states how thick it actually is. Sterling silver has a warmer color and will scratch a bit easier. It will also tarnish (turn black) after a while, but that is easily cleaned off and with regular wear shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
How long will the plating last? That depends on the thickness of the plating, how regularly the ring is worn and what type of activities your girlfriend does with the ring on (gardening etc.).
I personally don’t like the white gold plating. To me, the silver looks like rhodium plated costume jewelry. I like the way silver ‘ages’. The little scratches, the bit of tarnish that will sit in the scratches etc. It gives the jewelry real personality.
